Just as kevin said. domino The ruger 10/22 is designed to be dry fired just like the ruger MK I, II Registered User and III. They all have a firing pin stop to keep it from striking the Joined: Sunday, 6th of June 2010, 19:52:14 barrel Posts: 1055 of the gun. Yes, normal operation. Dry firing can be especially damaging on fashie .22's. What I do when I think I am done is pull the bolt back to see if the Registered User chamber is empty. Joined: Wednesday, 5th of May 2010, 22:47:10 Posts: 1483 Viewed 6554 times

The Ruger 10/22 was designed to be dry fired, thats why there BABESKIES!!!<3 is no bolt hold open device. Don't worry about it, most manufacturers Registered User state that you can dry fire your gun (exceptions are usually guns Joined: Friday, 4th of June 2010, 14:04:40 chambered in .22 rimfire, but this is ok for the ruger). Go to the Ruger Posts: 1439 FAQ, it says that it IS safe to dry fire your 10/22. Dry fire practice Viewed 9234 times helps trigger control, more you practice, better you get. There are
aftermarket parts to hold the bolt open.

The situation is normal. The hammer must be cocked before the pappee safety can be engaged. Registered User Joined: Monday, 7th of June 2010, 03:58:11 You have hit upon my one pet peeve with the 10/22. They need to have a Posts: 623 factory installed hold open so that you do not dry fire after the last Viewed 1988 times cartridge.
These people have a fix, giving a hold open after the last cartridge. It
is an interesting fix to the problem.

Yes, this is normal, but why r u dry firing the gun? That is Little Pantz the worst thing u can do to any rifle, shotgun, or pistol. If I remember Registered User correctly, the 10/22 holds 7 in the clip and 1 in the chamber. U should Joined: Saturday, 1st of May 2010, 22:46:33 know when you've fired your last shot. Dry firing a gun will ruin the Posts: 1035 firing pin and the entire trigger mechanism in time. If u want to make Viewed 5490 times sure the gun is empty, just pull the bolt back a few times to check. DO
NOT dry fire it..
